Tax season can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be costly or complicated. For nearly two decades, Entergy Texas has partnered with local organizations to provide free tax preparation services across Southeast Texas at a series of Super Tax Day events, helping families strengthen their financial footing and make the most of the benefits they’ve earned.
This year’s Super Tax Day events will give qualifying customers access to essential information about tax credits and deductions they may be eligible for, including the federal Earned Income Tax Credit — a key program that helps improve financial stability for millions of Americans.
IRS-certified volunteers and trained Entergy employees will be on hand to provide free, confidential tax preparation, guiding participants through the filing process and helping them maximize their refunds.
“We know how stressful tax season can be, especially for families trying to make ends meet,” said Scott Hutchinson, vice president of public affairs for Entergy Texas. “Our goal is to ease that burden by offering free, reliable assistance, so customers can keep more of their hard-earned money. It’s all about helping our neighbors and strengthening the communities we call home.”
One of our long-standing Super Tax Day partnerships is with non-profit BakerRipley.
“Since 2020, Entergy has supported BakerRipley’s Neighborhood Tax Centers, which have been instrumental in increasing access to free, quality tax preparation services in Montgomery County, where availability is limited but demand is very high,” said Raymond Nguyen, Director of Neighborhood Tax Centers for BakerRipley. “During this time, we have prepared more than 4,650 tax returns and helped families claim over $1,950,000 in Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). Each year, we’ve seen steady growth in the number of families we serve. We value Entergy’s continued support of the Super Tax Day initiative, which provides free, quality tax preparation along with additional community resources and services for families in Montgomery County.”
The upcoming walk-in events are open to eligible individuals and families earning less than $58,000 annually, as well as taxpayers with disabilities and those who may need language assistance.
To ensure accurate service, participants should bring a photo ID, Social Security cards for all dependents, income documents such as W-2s or 1099s, health insurance forms, and banking information for direct deposit.
