As a result of Hurricane Ida’s catastrophic intensity, eight major transmission lines that deliver power into southeast Louisiana were out of service. However, crews were able to bring one transmission source back online to begin delivering power into the Greater New Orleans area.

The first light is a sign of hope, early this morning, as Entergy crews turn power on for some customers in eastern New Orleans with generation supplied by the New Orleans Power Station. This is the first step in bringing power back to the metro region – including Orleans, Jefferson, St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes, as well as parts of St. Charles and Terrebonne parishes – after Hurricane Ida left devastating destruction in its path.

Entergy Mississippi has restored power to about 26,000 customers since Tropical Storm Ida caused power outages for approximately 46,000 customers on Monday. As of 2 p.m., about 20,000 customers remain without power.

Entergy Mississippi customers are experiencing power outages as a result of what is now Tropical Storm Ida, bringing heavy rains and high winds impacting the service territory.  As of this report, 40,429 customers are without power.  Windy conditions are delaying restoration in some areas, as we cannot use our bucket trucks until sustained winds are less than 30 mph.  As soon as it is safe to do so, damage assessment and restoration will begin.  Depending on the severity of the storm, restoration could take several days.  The hardest hit areas could take a week or more.  We are continuing to work to ensure we have the people and resources to respond to outages safely.

When this occurred, it caused a load imbalance in the area and resulted in generation in the area coming offline.nWe are currently working to assess damage and identify a path forward to restore power, to those who can take it, in the area.nWe have provided back-up generation to the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board.nnPower will not be restored this evening, but we will continue work to remedy.
