Entergy Mississippi winter storm update – 2/2/23, noon

The latest wave of winter weather that rolled through Mississippi has left icy conditions in its wake and, as of 12 p.m., approximately 12,000 customers are without power in the northern portion of our service area. Hardest hit counties include DeSoto, Tate, Panola, Coahoma, Quitman and Bolivar, with scattered outages elsewhere in the region. Freezing rain will continue to fall in north Mississippi until noon and could create additional outages. Travel conditions are hazardous, which could slow restoration efforts.

The Edison Electric Institute has awarded Entergy with its Emergency Assistance Award for sending crews to assist in restoration efforts following Hurricane Ian, which made landfall Sept. 28, 2022, as a Category 4 storm along the western coastline of Florida. Ian proved to be one of the strongest storms to hit Florida since 1935 before moving into other U.S. states causing a tremendous trail of damage.

Entergy crews head east to respond to Hurricane Ian’s aftermath

Entergy is sending an initial wave of more than 820 restoration workers to support a safe restoration effort in anticipation of widespread damage from Hurricane Ian, including vegetation and line crews.

Recognizing the hard work and dedication of the men and women of Entergy, the Edison Electric Institute awarded Entergy Corporation with its Emergency Assistance Award. The company was recognized for its outstanding power restoration efforts supporting Duke Energy following a severe winter storm in January.

Entergy Mississippi Winter Storm Update – 2/4/22, 1:15 p.m.

Our crews continue their restoration efforts in north Mississippi and have restored power to more than half of the 10,203 customers who were affected by this latest winter storm. As of 1:15 p.m., we have 3,528 outages, with the majority of those in DeSoto County. We are still assessing in some areas and expect to be 100% assessed by the end of the day, assuming no new weather-related outages.  We anticipate being able to restore the vast majority of outages in Tunica by 10:00 p.m. tonight, but may have a few carry over to Saturday.

Entergy Mississippi Winter Storm Update – 2/3/22, 7 p.m.

As of 7 p.m., Entergy Mississippi has approximately 5,300 customers without power with the majority of those customers being in Desoto and Tunica counties. We also have some 800 field workers dedicated to restoring power to these customers, including Entergy Mississippi employees, contractors and crews from five additional states.
