Most people associate vegetation management with tree trimming, but that is only one of the many tools we use. Our all-encompassing vegetation management process is called "Integrated Vegetation Management," and it means we use a variety of tools to achieve the level of control required. One of the best tools available is herbicide. It is the safest and most ecologically beneficial method. Compared to mowing, herbicide results in greater species diversity and more beneficial pollinator species.

Our herbicide program uses low-volume backpack sprayers to target incompatible vegetation, leaving grasses and plants that are beneficial to wildlife. This type of herbicide program is used by many wildlife management programs like the National Wild Turkey Federation, American Bird Conservancy, and state and federal wildlife agencies, among others.

While the environments pictured on this page may look unattended, that is far from the case. These pictures are the result of calculated vegetation management and the use of herbicides.

Entergy's airsaw

Another tool that we utilize to manage vegetation across our service territory is an airsaw. This is a helicopter carrying rotating sawblades that can trim remote or hard-to-access areas. The airsaw does not have the height limitations of our ground-based equipment, so we are able to remove all overhanging limbs that might cause outages. An additional benefit is reduced ground impact to your property compared to heavy equipment traditionally used to do the work.
