Entergy New Orleans is committed to helping customers reduce energy costs and to investing in a more sustainable future for New Orleans. Through our Energy Smart program, we recently recognized Loyola University New Orleans for completing a series of energy efficiency improvements that reduced campus electricity consumption by approximately 22% and generated an estimated $700,000 in annual electricity cost savings.

Representatives from Entergy New Orleans, Energy Smart and Loyola University gathered to celebrate the university’s achievement and the nearly $489,115 in Energy Smart rebates earned between 2023 and 2025. The incentives helped offset the cost of projects that modernized critical infrastructure, improved operational efficiency and increased energy efficiency across campus.

“Loyola University demonstrates how strategic investments in energy efficiency can deliver meaningful results,” said Ross Thevenot, manager of Demand Side Management for Entergy New Orleans. “We’re proud to support projects that lower operating costs, strengthen critical infrastructure and create savings that can be reinvested into the people and programs that benefit our community.”

Loyola’s completed projects included upgrades to its Central Plant, a new building management system, chilled water system optimization, LED lighting, enhanced building automation and other infrastructure improvements. One chilled water optimization project alone is expected to generate approximately $50,000 in monthly energy and operational savings.

“At Loyola, we believe responsible stewardship means investing wisely in both our people and our campus,” said Dr. Xavier A. Cole, president of Loyola University New Orleans. “Our partnership with Energy Smart has allowed us to modernize critical infrastructure, reduce our environmental impact, and realize significant operational savings that can be reinvested in our educational mission.”

Energy Smart helps commercial customers identify and implement energy-saving solutions by offering incentives for qualifying upgrades, including HVAC systems, lighting, refrigeration, building automation and other efficiency improvements. Since the program was launched in 2010, more than 135,000 Entergy New Orleans customers have received more than $61.4 million in incentives to make energy-saving improvements.

Entergy New Orleans remains committed to helping businesses and institutions invest in energy efficiency, lower operating costs and build a stronger, more sustainable future for New Orleans.
