In the spirit of service that defines Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy, Entergy New Orleans joined community partners and volunteers on MLK Day for the New Orleans Million Meals for MLK Community Packing Party with the Saints at Dillard University.
Hosted by Entergy, Louisiana Blue, Healthy Blue, Dillard University, the Women’s Foundation of the South, Danos, the New Orleans Saints, and additional corporate and nonprofit partners, the event brought together volunteers to fight hunger across Louisiana. In partnership with The Pack Shack, participants worked side by side on an assembly line to package nutritious meals for families in need.
“Dr. King challenged us to serve others, and this event puts that principle into action,” said Stephanie Willis, the director of public affairs at Entergy New Orleans. “A thriving New Orleans starts in our communities, and by addressing food insecurity with partnerships like this, we’re helping families thrive and strengthening our city.
More than 1,000 volunteers, including over 250 Entergy New Orleans employees, family members, and friends, helped pack over 100,000 meals in just three hours. Volunteers represented a wide cross-section of the community, with participation from partnering businesses, organizations, and civic leaders. The New Orleans event is part of a broader statewide effort to pack and distribute 500,000 meals across Louisiana in 2026.
Events like the Million Meals packing event highlight the impact of collaboration when organizations and individuals come together in service. Entergy New Orleans will continue working alongside community partners to power a brighter and healthier future for the communities we serve.
