1. Hawaii and Arizona do not observe Daylight Saving Time.

2. Germany was the first country to enact Daylight Saving Time in 1916 during World War I to conserve resources.

3. Its official title is Daylight Saving Time, although many incorrectly refer to it as Daylight Savings Time. In Europe, it’s called Summer Time.

4. Many credit Benjamin Franklin with “inventing” Daylight Saving Time. However, Franklin merely suggested Parisians change their sleep schedules to save money on candles in a satirical essay for the Journal de Paris.
