Meet Daniel Boratko, manager of resource planning and market analytics in the system planning and operations organization, based in The Woodlands, Texas.
Boratko spent most of his upbringing in Sugar Land, Texas where he attended Strake Jesuit College Preparatory, one of the largest Catholic high schools in the Houston area. While there, Boratko had a physics teacher who inspired his interest in physics and nuclear energy. Shortly after, he toured the nuclear engineering department at Texas A&M University during a college visit and knew that was the path that he wanted to pursue.
After graduating from Texas A&M University with his bachelor’s in nuclear engineering, he began his career at Entergy in June 2014 as an analyst in the planning department.
From 2014 to 2021, he held several roles from analyst I to senior analyst. In 2021, he was named manager of the advanced economic planning group.
In March of 2022, he moved into the position as manager of resource planning and market analytics. In this role, he and his team are responsible for providing analytical and modeling services to our operating companies to help them make long-term planning decisions. They complete this by measuring the reliability and economic effectiveness of Entergy’s investments in generating resources like nuclear, wind, solar, battery and gas. Boratko also serves as a witness for various regulatory filings on behalf of our operating companies. This role is critical in securing regulatory approval and cost recovery for generation resources.
One of Boratko’s favorite moments at Entergy was when he worked on the Shore Power Project in 2018. “Extending our grid at Port Fourchon in Lafourche Parish to power docking marine vessels reduced emissions by eliminating diesel use, increased company revenue and gave me a great experience working with a diverse innovation team. I spent nearly six weeks living in New Orleans working on this project and enjoyed every moment,” he said.

When asked about his favorite part of working at Entergy, Boratko points to his team and the excitement happening within the utility industry. “Every day is an exciting day when I come into work. There’s always a new challenge or opportunity to tackle, and I love working with my coworkers and team members. It’s been very rewarding to be part of the data center race and massive load growth that has made my planning role even more interesting.”
When he’s not planning long-term success for the company, Boratko loves to travel with his wife, Giovanna. He also has a passion for cooking and baking, using recipes from around the world.
The system planning and operations team continues to demonstrate its value as a critical strategic and commercial organization, and as a talent incubator for the enterprise. We’re proud to announce that Boratko has recently accepted a promotion to become a senior manager within the clean power development team, focusing on new solar and battery projects. Boratko is the latest example of how SPO’s rigorous analytical, technical and commercial culture positions our colleagues for career growth and leadership success across the company. We are very grateful to Boratko for his many contributions to SPO and the stakeholders he’s served over the last 12 years, and we know that he will apply his resource planning acumen, strategic thinking, problem solving skills and positive, can-do mindset to drive successful outcomes in his new role.
