For Jeffery Moore, a financial analyst based out of our Nuclear Headquarters in Jackson, Mississippi, financial proficiency begins with collaborative efforts that support the company’s nuclear excellence model through financial planning, forecasting and regulatory support. Additionally, Moore helps departments make informed decisions, maintain financial accountability and execute their objective efficiently.
A native of Jackson, Mississippi, Moore grew up in West Jackson and attended Jim Hill High School. His academic and athletic pursuits led him to Samford University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting. Following his undergraduate studies, Moore returned to Mississippi and attended Mississippi College, where he earned his master’s degree in accounting.
Moore said his educational background established a strong foundation in financial analysis, accounting and the discipline he brings to his day-to-day responsibilities.
“I love where I work and what I get to do,” Moore said. “I am appreciative to have the adequate educational background, which prepared me for what I do on a day-to-day basis. However, for us to keep things moving forward as a company and team, we must continue working proficiently with a positive attitude.”
Moore’s journey to Entergy began through a professional connection. A former colleague who joined Entergy in The Woodlands, TX., encouraged him to explore opportunities with the company. Since joining Entergy, Moore has served in his current role for more than four years.
“I thoroughly enjoy doing financial overview trainings, meeting with budget coordinators at our nuclear sites and helping review expense plans,” he stated. “With these trainings, we track our revenue performance and other metrics to give site leaders a strategic plan on how we can improve as a company. Additionally, I believe two of the key efforts that make our company proficient is the financial transparency and how we effectively communicate.”
Beyond his day-to-day duties, Moore contributes to broader financial and regulatory initiatives. He also prepares quarterly reporting for investor relations that track nuclear generation cost through per-megawatt-hour metrics.
One accomplishment that stands out to Moore is his involvement in the company’s nuclear decommissioning financial reporting process.
“During this process, we estimate the cleanup cost, funds accumulated to date, fund earnings and etc.,” he said. “While in this process, it is important we carefully review our agenda to ensure the appropriate level of accuracy.”
For Moore, safety and accuracy are central to his approach for his assignments. Moore recognizes that the principles of safety extend across every aspect of the business.
“Being aware of the small errors that can become major ones is a safety motto I maintain,” he said.
Looking ahead, Moore remains focused on expanding his financial experience and deepening his understanding of Entergy’s operations and continuing to grow within the company.
