For nearly two decades, Rhett Amedee has helped power Entergy’s mission through leadership, technical expertise and an unwavering commitment to safety. As a maintenance supervisor at Waterford 3 Steam Electric Station, Amedee believes that developing proficient teams and fostering collaboration is essential to accomplishing goals efficiently.

Today, Amedee is responsible for ensuring that maintenance activities are completed safely and according to scheduled processes. He also focuses on developing his team by making sure employees are proficient in their assigned tasks and prepared to perform their work with confidence.

“The importance of building proficiency at Waterford 3 begins with the people,” Amedee said. “I believe that if we continue thriving in our communication efforts, we will accomplish new milestones. We must also continue creating a collaborative work environment where responsibilities are shared, workloads are balanced and every team member contributes to the successful completion of work.”

Since 2008, Amedee has served in several important roles across the organization. He began as an electrician before moving into maintenance planning. Over time, his experience and leadership led him to his current position.

Originally from Houma, Louisiana, Amedee began his professional journey by serving six years in the U.S. Navy, where he worked in nuclear power. The experience provided a seamless transition into the nuclear industry and laid the technical foundation for his career at Entergy.

Throughout his career, Amedee says his greatest accomplishment has not been a single project, but the relationships he has built with the people around him. Working alongside dedicated teammates and helping them grow professionally is the most rewarding aspects of his career.

“I love watching those around me excel and grow,” he said. “Yes, I’ve worked on a lot of big projects with important people, but here at Entergy it’s about pouring into the partner next to you.”

Safety remains the guiding principle behind everything Amedee does. He believes that performing work safely must always be the organization’s primary focus.

“If we do things safely, we’ll be doing them for a long time,” Amedee said. “Safety has to be our primary focus every day.”

As he continues leading maintenance efforts at Waterford 3, Amedee remains committed to mentoring others, strengthening teamwork and ensuring that every job is completed with efficiency.
