Data centers and Entergy

Louisiana

When large customers like data centers connect to Entergy’s grid, they pay a big share of the grid upgrades and maintenance costs that small businesses and residents would otherwise have to pay for by themselves, helping lower power bills for everyone.

$2.8B in savings for our Louisiana customers

Entergy Louisiana is powering major data center projects that will deliver $2.8 billion in savings to our customers over the next two decades.

When large data centers move to Entergy’s service area, all customers that are connected to the grid benefit. In fact, every new large customer added to the system helps pick up more of the grid maintenance improvement costs that existing customers would otherwise have to bear alone, and at a larger share than residential and small business customers.

What they’re saying

“Louisiana has been a national model for showing that data center projects can be structured in a way that not only protects the power reliability of existing customers on the power grid, but provides them with real savings, too.”

“What does Project Omega mean for consumers?
$2B in savings
Large users pay their own way
Reliable energy for growing demand
That is how you protect affordability and keep the grid strong.”

“Excited about the community wins in Entergy’s Meta agreement: $120M for Power to Care, $140M for low-income efficiency programs, new renewables, and nuclear exploration. This is smart growth that strengthens our economy while protecting families.”

“The investment is here. The progress is real. The partners involved have kept their commitments, and we will hold them to every one going forward. That means workforce pipelines that reach working families, small business support that opens doors for people who have never had them, and infrastructure investment that ensures every corner of this region and this state feels the benefit, not just the burden.”

“We’re proud to spotlight Entergy, a valued member of the CBC Institute’s 21st Century Council, for announcing a landmark initiative expected to deliver $5 billion in customer savings through new data center agreements . . . Congratulations to Entergy for demonstrating how responsible leadership and forward-thinking investments can create real value for customers and communities alike.”

“As data centers drive surging energy demand, the real question isn’t whether data centers are good or bad — it’s whether they’re planned responsibly . . .There is a way to have growth and protect customers. Smart development, not stopped development, is the answer.”

“Louisiana has some of the lowest power rates in the country, and Entergy’s commitment to having data centers pay their fair share will help us maintain that success.”

“Entergy’s ‘Fair Share Plus’ pledge shows how effective regulated oversight protects customers: Data centers pay their full costs plus extras like grid upgrades, storm costs & clean energy support, saving LA families hundreds of millions. Grateful for our collaborative work with Entergy & state leaders, securing energy leadership & affordability!”

“Critics often seize on the fact that electricity prices have been rising in Virginia, where data centers account for almost 40 percent of the state’s electricity use. But electricity prices are rising faster in some states with far less data-center development—for instance, New Jersey and Maryland. And Texas, which is building more data centers than Virginia, has kept prices low by increasing capacity.”

“President Trump’s Ratepayer Protection Pledge continues to deliver! Today, Entergy announced $5 BILLION in electricity cost savings are coming to ratepayers in Mississippi, Arkansas, and Louisiana.”
