Keeping the lights on isn’t just about building new lines — it’s a nonstop, year‑round effort that happens behind the scenes every single day. Every inspection, every trimmed tree, every hardened pole plays a direct role in reducing outages, lowering long‑term and storm costs and improving the customer experience. Here’s how the work we’ve done this year translates to real value for you.

Equipment inspections completed: 8,452
The more we inspect, the more issues we catch before they turn into outages. Preventing equipment failures reduces emergency repairs, which are far more expensive, and helps avoid customer disruptions.

Targeted reliability inspections: 274 inspections and 53,859 pole inspections
Targeted inspections focus on areas most likely to experience problems, helping us fix weaknesses before storms or daily wear cause outages. This proactive approach reduces restoration costs and strengthens the grid where it needs it most.

Transmission and distribution line miles patrolled: 10,331
Patrolling thousands of miles means identifying problems, weather wear, wildlife interference or equipment issues, long before they interrupt service.

Vegetation trimmed: 3,800+ distribution line miles and 243 transmission miles
Tree trimming is one of the biggest drivers of reliability and customer savings. Most outages during storms come from falling limbs. Regular trimming prevents those outages, reducing expensive storm restoration work and helping keep the grid reliable even during severe weather.

Hazardous trees removed: 9,000+
Removing dangerous trees eliminates some of the biggest long‑term threats to our power lines. Even when a tree looks healthy, storm stress or disease can weaken it over time, meaning the damage often shows up later, long after the storm has passed. Every hazardous tree we remove is one future outage prevented and one costly repair avoided.

Poles hardened through our resiliency program: 20,063
Stronger poles mean fewer broken structures during storms. Our new poles can withstand winds of up to 140 mph.  This  helps keep the lights on during storms, or gets them back on faster, and reduces the amount of emergency work needed — and emergency work is always more expensive than planned upgrades.

Hardened distribution lines: 1,151 line miles
Reinforcing distribution lines makes the system more resilient to wind, flooding and daily wear.

Hardened transmission lines: 292 line miles
Strengthening transmission lines ensures the backbone of the electric grid stays strong. These lines carry power across long distances — keeping them resilient prevents widespread outages and helps avoid major repair costs after storms.

New transmission and distribution lines: 544 distribution miles and 265 transmission miles
Building new lines expands capacity, improves reliability and supports growing communities — and because these lines are designed and built to today’s modern standards, they’re far less likely to require immediate maintenance or repairs. That means fewer unexpected costs, fewer outages, and a stronger system from day one.

Automation devices installed: 129 reclosers and 11 self-healing networks
Automation is one of the biggest ways we reduce outage time. Smart devices can isolate issues and reroute power automatically, restoring customers in seconds instead of hours. Faster restoration not only improves the customer experience but reduces the cost and workforce needed for manual repairs.

How all this work supports affordability

Resiliency work keeps bills lower  because preventing a failure is always cheaper than repairing one. Every inspection, trimming program, hardened pole and automated device contributes to the same goal: preventing outages and reducing the cost of restoring power when something does go wrong. By investing today, we reduce storm impacts, avoid costly emergency work, limit equipment replacements and keep the system running efficiently.
