As the weather cools and residents prepare for the holiday season, Energy Smart is helping income-eligible households stay comfortable and save on energy bills with a free Google Nest Thermostat from now until Dec. 31, while supplies last.
With temperatures dipping for the first time in months, many residents are running their heating systems for extended periods of time—significantly raising their energy bills. An ENERGY STAR® certified smart thermostat like Google Nest can help manage seasonal swings and create an energy-efficient schedule. Customized scheduling allows the device to turn itself down automatically, reducing energy waste. By offering these energy-saving devices for free, New Orleans residents can easily keep their homes comfortable while spending less.
“A smart thermostat is a simple upgrade that gives families more control over their temperature settings and energy use, especially as we head into the winter months,” said Derek Mills, manager of demand side management at Entergy New Orleans. “For many people living in older homes here in New Orleans, it can make a noticeable difference in comfort and monthly costs.”
Income-qualified residents can receive the thermostat at no cost. Installation is do-it-yourself friendly with simple, step-by-step instructions.
To qualify, the customer must:
- Be a residential customer of Entergy New Orleans.
- Have a household income at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI).
Eligible New Orleans residents can claim a free ENERGY STAR® certified Google Nest Thermostat at the Energy Smart Online Marketplace.
This offer is available while supplies last, and Energy Smart encourages eligible residents to act quickly.
Customers may also qualify for additional free Energy Smart services—including home energy assessments and no‑cost weatherization upgrades like air sealing and attic insulation—two of the most effective ways to boost efficiency and comfort in your home all year round.
