Twenty-one years after Hurricane Katrina, Entergy New Orleans continues to honor the resilience of New Orleans by supporting the communities it serves through volunteerism, partnerships and community investments.
To commemorate this year’s anniversary, we hosted a Beat the Heat Day of Service in partnership with Rebuilding Together New Orleans. Entergy employees and Rebuilding Together New Orleans volunteers worked together to build a ramp for a 102-year-old resident in Council District B, helping improve accessibility to her home.
“Entergy’s Day of Service is not just about home repairs, it is about restoring hope, ensuring safety, and strengthening neighborhoods,” said Stephanie Willis, director of public affairs at Entergy New Orleans. “It reflects our continued dedication our customers, partners, and fellow residents.”
The project is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting customers and strengthening neighborhoods, particularly residents who may need additional assistance to remain safe and comfortable in their homes.
Over the past two decades, Entergy employees have contributed 1.6 million hours of volunteer service across the company’s four-state service area. In New Orleans, that commitment continues through initiatives such as Beat the Heat, which brings employees directly into neighborhoods to support residents and address critical needs.
Community programs like Beat the Heat also provide an opportunity to connect with customers who may not otherwise be reached through traditional customer assistance programs. Through partnerships with local organizations, we can extend our reach and provide hands-on support to our most vulnerable customers.
As New Orleans marks 21 years since Hurricane Katrina, we remain committed to honoring the resilience that has defined the city’s recovery. Through continued service, partnership and investment, we are helping build a stronger, safer and more resilient New Orleans for generations to come.
