As of 8 p.m., Entergy restoration teams have safely restored power to 42,000 customers, more than half of the customers who lost service at the peak of the storm.

As of 1:00 p.m., approximately 65,000 customers remain without power, down from a peak of 91,500 outages. The damage from this ice storm is comparable to a category 3 hurricane, but unlike a hurricane, where damage can largely be assessed once a storm passes, ice storm damage is often hidden.

Entergy Mississippi issues estimated restoration times

Entergy Mississippi crews are making progress assessing damage and restoring power to customers who were left without power after severe winter weather, including freezing rain and ice, entered the service area over the weekend. Road conditions, failing limbs, access, local temperatures and terrain are factors impacting crews as they work to restore power. As of Monday, Jan. 26, crews are expected to have damage assessments nearly complete by Thursday, Jan. 29.
