Entergy Louisiana’s restoration teams continue to make steady progress following the winter storm. As of 8 a.m., crews have now safely restored power to nearly 70,000 customers, representing about 76% of customers impacted at the peak of the storm. However, that number doesn’t tell the full story. As crews restored power, new outages continued to occur due to ongoing damage from ice-laden trees and power lines.
Entergy Louisiana’s restoration teams continue to make steady progress following this past weekend’s winter storm. Crews have now safely restored power to nearly 65,000 customers, representing about 70% of customers impacted at the peak of the storm.
Entergy restoration teams have safely restored power to nearly 57,000 customers, 60% of the customers who lost service at the peak of the storm. Damage assessments are nearly complete, which allows crews to fully focus on repairs. So far, identified damage includes approximately:
As of 8 p.m., Entergy restoration teams have safely restored power to 42,000 customers, more than half of the customers who lost service at the peak of the storm.
Significant progress continues as crews work through challenging and dangerous conditions. Outages are down to approximately 50,000 customers, from a peak of 91,500. With improving, above-freezing temperatures, crews expect to make notable progress throughout the day today.
We know being without power is difficult, especially during extremely cold weather. To provide additional support while we work safely and quickly to restore service, we will open customer information centers in areas heavily impacted by the recent winter storm beginning Thursday, Jan. 29.
As of 1:00 p.m., approximately 65,000 customers remain without power, down from a peak of 91,500 outages.
The damage from this ice storm is comparable to a category 3 hurricane, but unlike a hurricane, where damage can largely be assessed once a storm passes, ice storm damage is often hidden.
Restoration is well underway as Entergy Louisiana crews continue making progress assessing damage and restoring power to customers impacted by severe winter weather.
