Entergy New Orleans is investing in a stronger, more resilient electric grid while protecting the city’s unique tree canopy. As part of these efforts, we completed 200 miles of tree trimming across New Orleans to reduce outages, enhance public safety and strengthen our electrical infrastructure.

Crews have completed tree trimming projects in neighborhoods across the city, including New Orleans East, Mid-City and Algiers. This work advances our broader strategy to improve service reliability and reduce the effects of severe weather on the electric system.

Trees and vegetation near power lines are a major cause of outages, especially during storms and high winds. Routine trimming helps prevent downed lines, reduce electrical hazards and give crews better access to equipment, allowing them to restore service faster.

Our team follows nationally recognized safety and arboriculture standards, along with City of New Orleans Parks and Parkways requirements. These guidelines help crews maintain safe clearance between vegetation and electrical equipment while preserving trees’ long-term health.

In addition to routine trimming, crews are clearing vegetation to support the installation of stronger utility poles and the transfer of power lines. Recent infrastructure upgrades have been completed along Bienville Street between North Telemachus Street and City Park Avenue. Additional work is scheduled along North Carrollton Avenue near Banks Street and Jesuit High School.

Through proactive vegetation management and infrastructure upgrades, we are reducing outages, strengthening neighborhood resilience and providing customers with more reliable power while preserving the tree canopy that makes New Orleans unique.
