Behind the scenes of the restoration: Battling the winter weather

As Darren Cox held his newborn child in his arms for the first time, he didn’t anticipate that less than a month later, he’d be leaving his home for days on end—working through snow, ice and freezing temperatures to restore power to our customers across our region. For Entergy Mississippi lineworkers like Darren, this is what service looks like when severe weather strikes. 

Entergy Mississippi January winter storm update – 2/2/2026, 3 p.m.

Entergy Mississippi crews continue to make steady progress, restoring service to about 82,500 customers, which is more than 90% of the approximately 87,000 customers who lost service since the storm began affecting our service areas.

Entergy Louisiana January winter storm update – 2/2/2026, 2 p.m.

Most customers impacted by the winter weather that brought snow, ice and below freezing temperatures to North Louisiana have been restored. As of 12:00 p.m., approximately 6,000 customers in the hardest-hit areas of Louisiana are without power. Our crews will continue working to restore service until the last light is on.  

Entergy January winter storm update – 2/2/2026, 7 a.m.

The majority of our customers impacted by the winter weather that brought snow, ice and below freezing temperatures to parts of our service area have been restored. As of 6:15 a.m., approximately 12,530 Entergy customers in the hardest-hit areas of Louisiana and Mississippi are without power. Our crews will continue working to restore service until the last light is on.

Entergy Louisiana crews have restored power to 90% of customers impacted at the peak of the recent winter storm, marking a major milestone in a challenging and complex restoration effort across north Louisiana.

Entergy Mississippi crews continue to make steady progress, restoring service to about 79,000 customers, which is more than 90% of the approximately 87,000 customers who lost service since the storm began affecting our service areas.
