Powering the next generation: Entergy Arkansas modernizes its generation fleet with new gas facility

Entergy Arkansas is transforming its generation fleet to bring the most cost efficient, state-of-the-art gas generation to power customers today and future generations of Arkansas, filing for approval of a new energy-efficient natural gas power plant named Jefferson Power Station. Jefferson Power Station (JPS) is a 754-megawatt combined cycle combustion turbine facility with the capability to power more than 355,000 homes and will be located on the same site as the company’s White Bluff facility in Jefferson County.

Although the heat of summer can increase electricity use and energy costs, Entergy Arkansas is committed to helping customers stay cool and save money throughout the hotter months with bill management tools and resources. The company’s online Bill Toolkit connects customers to energy efficiency tips and resources, as well as information about bill management and financial assistance options.

Students are learning to fly drones, and Entergy is here for it

Some high school students in Arkansas are learning how to fly unmanned aerial vehicles, better known as drones. For Entergy employees and departments already using drone technology, it’s good news that a generation of potential future employees in the state have an interest in this growing aspect of utility industry work.
