NEW ORLEANS – Entergy is committed to strengthening the communities we serve by supporting education and access to opportunity. Our continued investment in the literacy program Prime Time underscores this commitment by expanding access to early learning, fostering critical thinking, and engaging families in lifelong learning.
Over the past 14 years, Entergy has funded more than $700,000 helping to bring Prime Time programs to more than 5,000 families in Louisiana. This spring, Prime Time will partner with 43 organizations across 20 parishes to deliver free Prime Time Family Reading and Prime Time Preschool Reading programs in communities throughout the state.

Prime Time is a program of the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities, a statewide non-profit organization and an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Created in 1991, Prime Time is dedicated to strengthening families and communities by making high-quality, humanities-based education accessible to children and families across Louisiana.
“At Entergy, education and literacy are foundational to building strong families and thriving communities,” said Patty Riddlebarger, vice president of corporate social responsibility at Entergy. “Our continued support of Prime Time reflects our long-term commitment to expanding access to high-quality learning opportunities for children and families, and to preparing the next generation for success in school and beyond.”
Each six-week Prime Time session brings families together for a shared meal, followed by guided reading and facilitated discussion centered on a piece of quality literature. Families are encouraged to keep all the books used during the program to build home libraries to reinforce reading as a consistent part of family life.
Prime Time’s humanities-based approach focuses on open-ended questioning and collective learning to encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and dialogue. By utilizing the Socratic method combined with engaging literature, children and families explore important ideas about life, family, and community.
Entergy’s long-standing support of Prime Time reflects our commitment to strengthening early learning and literacy throughout Louisiana. By expanding access to high-quality learning programs, we are helping children develop fundamental skills while fostering a lifelong love of reading.
