ntergy crews have made significant progress today following overnight severe weather events across Louisiana, bringing outages down to just 3,000 from a peak of more than 37,000.
Remnants of Tropical Storm Arthur continue to impact southeast Louisiana. High-winds, flash-flooding and lightning brought approximately 37,000 outages across the region overnight and into this morning.
Day by day, that commitment strengthened — ultimately carrying Ninemile Point to an extraordinary milestone: ten years without an employee OSHA recordable and more than sixteen years without an employee lost time event.
In Lockport, crews are building a reinforced flood wall around the Valentine substation, the first of five projects like it planned across the state.
Hyundai Steel, along with POSCO and other Hyundai Motor Group affiliates, has made a groundbreaking decision to invest $5.8 billion in a new manufacturing facility in Louisiana, and Entergy Louisiana has finalized an electric service agreement with the company’s domestic steelmaking venture, HYUNDAI-POSCO Louisiana Steel (HPLS), to power the site and support its long term energy needs.
Nearly 100,000 truckloads of soil are being delivered and stacked at Entergy’s Waterford 5 & 6 expansion site. To put that into perspective: it’s enough material to cover 100 football fields, each piled 17 feet high.
