Entergy Mississippi January winter storm update – 1/28/2026, 8 p.m.

Entergy Mississippi is taking to the skies flying drones and helicopters up to 5,000 feet in the air—more than three times the height of the Empire State Building in New York City—to better help scan our region for damages, improving the speed in which we can restore power for our customers. These efforts are part of our team’s continued focus on restoring power after winter weather blanketed significant parts of our service territory with freezing rain and ice last weekend.

Entergy January winter storm update – 1/28/2026, 5 p.m.

Restoration efforts are well underway following the recent severe winter weather, which continues to disrupt customers’ lives primarily in Louisiana and Mississippi. We have restored nearly 50% of all Entergy customers across the system, and work continues in the hardest-hit areas, which are expected to be restored this weekend.

Entergy Louisiana provides updated restoration estimates

As of 1:00 p.m., approximately 65,000 customers remain without power, down from a peak of 91,500 outages. The damage from this ice storm is comparable to a category 3 hurricane, but unlike a hurricane, where damage can largely be assessed once a storm passes, ice storm damage is often hidden.

Supporting customers during storm recovery

Restoration is well underway as Entergy Louisiana crews continue making progress assessing damage and restoring power to customers impacted by severe winter weather.
