The majority of our customers impacted by the winter weather that brought snow, ice and below freezing temperatures to parts of our service area have been restored. As of 6:15 a.m., approximately 12,530 Entergy customers in the hardest-hit areas of Louisiana and Mississippi are without power. Our crews will continue working to restore service until the last light is on.
Safety is our core value and always comes first. Then, restoring power is the top priority and first order of business. We assemble and organize the workforce needed to restore service safely and quickly to all customers.

We’ve made steady progress restoring service to our customers. We know that if you are still without power, you want your power restored as quickly as possible.
Ongoing environmental conditions continue to create dynamic challenges. Even after initial scouting and damage assessment, continued tree failures are bringing down additional poles and spans, resulting in new damage discoveries and additional outages as crews pursue their work. Many locations require special vehicles simply to traverse muddy, water-ridden line sections before repairs can even begin.
- For example, crews in Mississippi have been working on off-road terrain to complete repairs in hard to reach areas.
- Estimated restoration times are based on current conditions and may change as crews gain access to affected areas and complete repairs.
- One of the biggest threats to our crews working on or near a roadway is a vehicle crashing into their work zone. When driving through a work zone, slow down and move to the far lane. If changing lanes is not possible, reduce your speed on approach.
- For safety reasons, please do not approach our restoration workers. They are working very hard to restore power as safely and quickly as possible. Interacting with crews while they perform work can be a distraction that creates safety issues and disrupts their efficiency.
- Customers can continue to stay informed of the restoration efforts on the company’s Storm Center website.
Entergy Louisiana impacts and updates
As of 6:15 a.m., crews have safely restored power to approximately 84,410 customers, representing about 92% of those impacted at the peak of the storm. While this marks meaningful progress, it doesn’t tell the whole story. As power is restored, new outages continue to occur, primarily due to vegetation and limbs falling onto power lines as freezing temperatures persist.
In some of the hardest hit areas restoration efforts have been met with significant operational challenges. Terrain conditions – including saturated ground and standing water throughout entire sections of line – require specialized track equipment for safe access and equipment deployment.
- More detailed Louisiana restoration timelines by parish can be found at entergy.com/stormcenter.

- Please be aware that roads may be hazardous or closed during restoration efforts. Road conditions and closure information can be found here from Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.
Entergy Mississippi impacts and updates
Entergy Mississippi crews continue to make steady progress, restoring service to about 62,220 customers as of 6:15 a.m., which is 92% of the approximately 67,670 customers who lost service since the storm began affecting our service areas. As crews restored power, new outages have continued to occur due to ongoing damage from ice-laden trees and power lines. And high winds and another wave of freezing temperatures caused additional outages over the weekend.
Estimated restoration times are adjusted based upon damage assessments and special equipment needs. Most customers who can safely receive power were restored Sunday night. However, some customers in the hardest hit areas in the Grenada and surrounding areas may have their outages extend into the week.

Managing your energy usage during extreme cold temperatures
Throughout the rest of this winter, use these tips to help reduce your energy usage:
- Seal air leaks. Install weather stripping around your doors, windows and any location where there may be a path between the inside and outside of your home or business.
- Adjust the thermostat. Grab a sweater or blanket to stay warm and set the thermostat to 68 degrees. Every degree higher can add three percent to your bill.
- Conserve hot water. Wrap your electric water heater with a water heater blanket that can be found at local home improvement stores and set the thermostat to 120 degrees or medium.
- Keep all doors and windows closed. Constant traffic will let out the warm air, forcing your heater to work harder to keep the room at the set temperature.
- Ensure fans are turning the right way. Fans should be run at a low speed clockwise during the winter. This helps keep the cold air from blowing down on you.
- Keep the air circulating. Don’t block heat registers or air returns with curtains or furniture.
- Leverage the sun. During the day, open your curtains and blinds to let in the warm sunlight. Close them at night to reduce heat loss.
